Away from the manufacture of seals and into the kitchen, workshop and laundry – twelve trainees from EagleBurgmann Germany recently exchanged their work environment at the Eurasburg plant for an internship at the Oberland Werkstätten (Workshops) in Geretsried.
A few days ago, they presented their experiences to Markus Wallenstein, workshop manager of the Oberland Werkstätten, and Peter Hertl, head of training at EagleBurgmann in Eurasburg. Each trainee worked for one week in the areas mentioned above. They had been previously trained on how to work with people with disabilities so that they could quickly adapt to the new work situation.
"They really do work," was the respectful impression the trainees gained from their practical training. They also agreed that a company for people with disabilities is something they would definitely recommend everyone should have a go at.
The second year of practical training at the Oberland Werkstätten has been on the agenda for trainees at EagleBurgmann for a long time. The instructors of the seal manufacturer see this is a way to develop the social competence of future employees and remove their inhibitions to let them encounter colleagues with disabilities just like colleagues without disabilities.
At the Eurasburg plant of EagleBurgmann, the trainees reported on their activities at the Oberland Werkstätten.
